August 2019 Leadville

  Front picture of the house we rented in Leadville.    The following are of the inside.     One day I followed a group of turbocharged UTV up a pass.   Near the top of the pass, the trail was still blocked by snow. Two of the guys went over the snow.  You can see the rig on its way back. This is Gracie who rode with me several times.  Sweet and adventuresome shild!!    I went way beck into the woods and came on this pen with huskies in it.   The gate at the pen.   Cattle on the trail.  Bryce on his motorcycle can be seen with the cattle.       Picture of Gracie.  She is the daughter of our middle son, Bryce, and his wife Deb.   This is Bryce on his motorcycle. The following is a picture of a snow that hit Leadville in June. The following is several pictures taken of the July 4th parade.   The burros will used in the 23 mile burro race in the mountains. The "race" burros were all sizes and each had to carry a load of 34 pounds.

Independence Pass 2019

  This picture was taken only a few hundred yards from our rented house as we started on our way.    We found this mule deer doe.   There were several avalanches on the road that had been cleaned off only about a week earlier.   As we got closer to the top of the pass, we couldn't resist this picture.   Look closely and the next picture and you can see where snowmobile tracks are.   We finally reached the top of the pass.   Look closely and you will see a skier taking off     You can just barely see the top of the rest rooms, that weren't open.  They had brought portable units for folks to use.   We were on our way back down in the next pictures.   The next one is of the big front end loader used to help clear the road.  Notice the chains on the tires.   I...
